Fill in the blanks

Today I feel like absolute shit.  Been sleeping all day with an upset stomach.   Haven't had any T in 23 days and really cut back on the beer drinking.  Got an opportunity to see my sister in law hula with her group Saturday Night.  It was super cool.  I can't wait to go to the next one.
It is snowing outside and I have to get well so I can go to work tomorrow in the am.  I think I will be at Truck 2 but who knows.
I have decided to cut back on my facebook profile and entries, as it turns out people may use it against you.  Well take care and I will enter something later.

Just nothing

My boy just turned 4 years old yesterday.  I am very proud  to have him in my life.  When I get home tomorrow we are going to play and maybe ski.  I promised him he could snuggle with me on the couch tomorrow night.

sleding

Not a bad way to travel to the sled hill with the boys.  Sometimes small hills appear to be mountains depending on your perspective of life.  I can not imagine how big this hill looks to Christian.  I believe sledding is so fun because it lets you become the kid you once were.  If don't trust my words go to any hill and watch the kids sled.  All smiles.  Jump on one and I know you will smile almost as big as the kids around you.

With that said I only one other bit of wisdom.  Remember we have two ears and one mouth, we should listen twice as much as we talk.

Park City

Today I sit a Station 9 out on the west side of Salt Lake.  It is so boring and slow that the clock actually ticks backward.  I think I will be here for about 9 more shifts because their Captain is off on sick leave.  Maybe some day I will be able to recirculate back to the city and run some calls.
Anyway yesterday I took my little 4 year old boy to Park City Mtn to ski.  I can't believe how great of a skier he is.  He rips it up.  I need to get him to slow down a little bit but with the help of my dad he started slowing down.  The First Time lift is far superior than the Linx chair at Solitude.  It is longer and has more fall line changes.  The  only down side is the lift lines are longer and the there are more people on the runs.  Seems to make sense considering PC is 10x larger than Solitude.
I must say that the dudes riding in the Park were ripping it up.  I saw off axis 7's as well as switch 9's, rails getting destroyed.  Very impressive I wish I had it in me but I like to free ride.  I can't wait until Jackson can ride further up the mountain.  He is and will be fun to ride with.
I am thinking about riding at Solitude tomorrow but may go to breakfast with the family after they get back from mass.
C-ya later.

A day at Solitude

Today I had the opportunity to leave work, fight the snowy roads, the lame ass people who drive them, and get to Solitude Ski Resort.  As most of you know, Utah gets the greatest snow on earth.  If it is on our license plate than it must be true. I took to big Cottonwood Canyon with reckless abandon.  I told Jaime I had my helmet and I didn't.  Sinner.  Well driving up the canyon was good and clear.
Solitude reported 29" of snow over the last 48hrs. and 20 of the last 24hrs.  I knew today was going to be deep.  And I was not disappointed.
I always park in the locals side of the lot.  Jumped on the quad and headed down Paradise Lost to meet some friends at the Powderehorn chair.  After two runs down the middle part of Paradise bowl I met up with them.  Did I forget to mention there was powder so deep that even poeple from Colorado couldn't hang.  After a few more POW shots we headed through the "Here be Dragons" gate and made our way to "Snow Porn."  It isn't labeled like that on the map but those in the know, know where it is.  A big gully filled in with the lowest water percentage snow only Utah can offer.
After drowning in my roost and choking on this "Cold Smoke" I made way around the rest of the mountain.  What a day.
Four hours and 15-20 runs later, my legs were cooked.  Lack of training.  Kids and all.
What I recommend is that if you haven't had the honor of spending a day at Solitude I don't think you should try now.  Remember what Warren Miller says, "If you don't do it this year, you will be a year older when you do."

Two things I love

First blog entry

As it turns out, this is going to be the first entry into my new world of getting blogoed.  Could be an adventure.  We will just have to wait and see.
I sit here in my room and wonder.  "What could I possibly have to blog about?"  As it turns out in my crazy life of being a Captain with SLCFD and my love for family, friends, and the outdoors there will be plenty.

Stay tuned this will be fun and enlightening.
